Dakinis

from the Fragments series

An abstract painting unfolds into fragments, inviting intimacy, texture, and quiet observation.

Dakinis is part of the ongoing series Fragments, a body of work in which a single painting is deliberately broken into multiple visual units. In this process, the original artwork is divided, photographed in detail, and reinterpreted through shifts in scale, allowing fragments to gain autonomy while preserving their origin.

The collection originates from an abstract painting created with watercolor and oil pastel on paper. Executed on a large sheet, the work was later divided into six sections. Selected details from these sections were then photographed and transformed into individual fine art prints, each functioning as a complete composition.

Printed with museum-grade pigment inks on archival fine art paper, the works are realized entirely by the artist — from the original painting to photographic and image selection. Printing takes place in the studio of a photographer whose practice is marked by a refined sensitivity to color accuracy and material subtlety, ensuring that tonal depth, texture, and surface nuance remain faithful to the original painting.

The images preserve the immediacy of the artistic gesture. Organic, fluid movements reveal the presence of the artist’s hand, while the paper’s texture remains visible throughout the composition. In certain areas, traces of excess water and the delicate erosion of the thin paper surface are preserved and embraced as integral elements of the work. The palette is composed primarily of nuanced blues and pinks, punctuated by concentrated accents of red and yellow.

Abstract and expressionist in nature, the Dakinis collection was conceived in a small format to emphasize intimacy and subtlety. The series consists of twelve fine art prints, each offered in a limited edition of 40, hand-signed and numbered by the artist. This body of work is unique and will not be reproduced in future editions.
